Bob has the distinction of being the only member of the band originally born a woman. "I just never felt comfortable in a female body or playing with dolls," recollects Bob (originally named "Barbie"). "I just wanted to play harmonica and rhythm guitar." The pain of multiple surgeries over the years yields a poignant and melancholy rhythm-guitar style - with bent notes, subtle 7ths and 9ths, and a tad more vibrato than you would expect. Although early life was rough, Bob is now at ease splitting his time between the band and the demands of his large family. Now happily married with six adopted children from five separate continents, Bob reflects on his experiences with the cryptic comment, "I play like John Popper feels, and I feel like John Popper plays."
