Life was tough for the Hip Replacements' lead singer, Josh, during his formative years. Struggling with both narcolepsy and kleptomania, Josh would often fall asleep in liquor stores he was in the process of robbing. Abandoned by his peers, Josh found himself in more than a few fistfights. "At first, I actually thought I liked bar-room brawls," says Josh. "But then I realized it was really just the intense emotional response from the guys' girlfriends that got me going." After this epiphany (and a prescription for anti-narcolepsy pills), Josh found his true calling as a lead singer. "On stage I have a bad-boy persona, and the ladies love it. Heck, even the guys love it," says Josh. Josh lists David Lee Roth as his biggest influence. "He may have worn spandex pants, but back in the day, the guy had a three-foot vertical leap. Chicks love that."
